Iridium GO Pre-Trip Checklist #

Setup Iridium GO #

  1. Insert SIM
  2. Insert battery
  3. Plug in and charge the Iridium GO

Download and Setup The Iridium GO App #

  1. Go to the iOS/Android App Store using high-speed Internet (Wi-Fi/LTE) and download the Iridium GO app on your smart device
  2. Turn on the Iridium GO device, by flipping the antenna up – Go to Settings on your smart device – Go to Wi-Fi Networks – Click on “IRDM-XXXX” (Iridium GO’s Wi-Fi name) – Your smart device is now connected to the Iridium GO’s Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to the Iridium GO App – Enter Login details: username and password are both “guest” by default
  4. Go to Settings to set up SOS. To enable emergency services, you must first visit the GEOS website and complete your registration at: www.geosalliance.com/iridium.
  5. Go to Settings to set up Tracking. Success! You’ve now completed the Iridium GO App setup.

Download and Setup The Iridium Mail App #

Note: To set up the Iridium Mail app, you need to use high speed internet (Wi-Fi/LTE)

  1. Go to the iOS/Android App Store and download the Iridium Mail app on your smart device.
  2. Go to https://www.iridium.com/mailandweb/ to register for your unique Iridium email
  3. Go to Iridium Mail App – Log in with your registered Username and Password.
  4. Go to Settings – Select Social Media – For Twitter posting: Turn on Twitter option and follow instructions on screen.
    Success! You’ve now completed the Iridium Mail App Setup.

Ensure All Systems Are GO #

Note: Please test the device before a trip to make sure you understand how the Iridium GO functions #

  1. Make a phone CALL on the Iridium GO App.
    Note: Use full international dialing sequence (00+ country code + phone number)
    Dialing Instructions: https://apollosat.com/howtodial
    To make a call from an Iridium phone into the United States, dial the United States country code (001, +1), and then the area code, and then the phone number. All calls made from an Iridium GO are considered “International” calls.
    Example – (Calling a U.S. Phone Number from an Iridium Phone): 001 480 478 1999 or +1 480 478 1999
    In this example, 480 is an area code in the U.S.

    For calling into another country:
    Dial the country code then the full phone or fax number. To locate the country code that you are calling into, please visit:
    http://www.itu.int/ITU-T/inr/nnp/index.html
    To call your Iridium Phone from the United States, dial 011 and then your Iridium’s voice number: 011-(Your Iridium Voice Number)
    There is also a 2-Stage Dialing Service to save on international long distance fees.
    Dial 1 (480) 768-2500, at the prompt enter your Iridium Satellite Phone # and you will be connect to your Iridium Phone.
    Iridium voicemail can be accessed by pressing on the Voicemail Icon, or calling 662990000 from a Iridium phone or 011-881-662990000 from any other phone. When prompted, you will be asked for your Iridium phone number when prompted, as well as the Voice Mail PIN.
    Voicemail PIN: Last 7 digits of your satellite voice number

  2. Send an SMS via the Iridium GO App.
    Note: Use full international dialing sequence
  3. Send QUICK GPS to ensure you are receiving regular TRACKING updates on the Iridium GO App
  4. Go to Settings – Select Social Media – For Twitter posting: Turn on Twitter option and follow instructions on screen.
    Success! You’ve now completed the Iridium Mail App Setup.
  5. Send/Receive emails to your new [email protected] email address on the Iridium Mail App.
  6. Post a TWEET using your Iridium Mail App.
    Note: Outgoing tweets get stored in your Spool/Outbox folder in Mail and require a Send/Receive sync to push them out

Provide Your Iridium Details to Friends and Family

  1. Provide your friends and family with your Iridium +8816 number.
    Note: All calls to this number would be considered as an international call and will be billed to the caller accordingly at their long-distance rate by their telephone service provider.
    Note: If you expect incoming calls from the United States, consider registering for a +1 number that will allow friends and family in the U.S. to call your satellite phone number at domestic rates. For more information on how to obtain a +1 number, Contact Apollo Satellite Communications.
  2. Provide your friends and family with your Iridium email address [email protected].
  3. Provide your friends and family with this webpage: https://messaging.iridium.com/, so they can send free SMS messages to your Iridium number.
