Optimizing Live Video – AnsuR Technologies has been named a Value-Added Developer (VAD) by Iridium Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: IRDM) to provide optimal video software solutions for use over the Iridium Certus service. The video compression software from AnsuR can produce high-precision, geo-tagged live action video content with 99 percent less bandwidth than existing approaches.
This application enhances the Iridium network’s ability to deliver high-precision mission-critical communications anywhere on the planet and provides another cutting-edge capability to its customers, including emergency responders, global militaries, NGOs, and businesses, via its powerful Iridium Certus terminals.
During Operation Arctic Lynx (OAL), an internationally coordinated field demonstration of Iridium and Iridium Connected technologies in the polar areas, Iridium and AnsuR first demonstrated this capability. Over the Iridium network, AnsuR software offered quick situational awareness and optimizing photo and video distribution. The crew used AnsuR’s ASMIRA program to send live on-the-go 1080 HD video footage via the Iridium network in real-time while driving through strong fog and rain above the Arctic circle in Utqiagvik, Alaska. The video was shot with a commercially available camera mounted on the vehicle, then sent over an Iridium Certus Connected Thales MissionLINK 700 terminal and seen by team members across several IP-connected networks around the world.
AnsuR’s Founder and CTIO, Harald Skinnemoen, stated, “We’re thrilled to be a part of Iridium as a Value-Added Developer. Working with Iridium and working with their distribution channel will expand the reach of our product to more customers operating in dynamic and complicated situations, improving decision-making and optimizing mission performance.”
The Iridium satellite constellation, which provides a web of coverage around the globe, enables Iridium Certus terminals. The constellation uses tiny form factor equipment to give low-latency satellite communication, making it perfect for applications that require mobility. Its L-band spectrum provides a weather-resistant and extremely reliable signal, allowing mission-critical communications to be delivered.
